Because of this strong creative upbringing, my art talent was encouraged at an early age. I not only sewed my clothing, but also created artwork and eventually decided on a career as a graphic designer. I graduated from the University of Akron with a BFA in graphic design. At the same time I was working my first job as a graphic artist and freelancing in illustration, graphic design, and technical work for an architect.

I had met my husband Terry while in high school and we decided to marry in 1980. The one thing that we both did not like about Ohio was the weather and we moved to St. Petersburg, Florida. I continued to work for advertising agencies and creative houses in St. Petersburg, Clearwater and Tampa until we moved to Durhan, North Carolina in early 1984. While in Florida my portfolio was very strong in print advertising, logo and identity design and illustration. This helped me continue my career in the Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina. My clients there included major companies in the RTP as well as Domino's in the eastern United States. I had several international accounts and was on track to become a well-known creative director.
