As a hobby, I had started sewing wedding gowns for clients in the area. My reputation grew and I eventually stopped working as a creative director and stayed at home with our 3 children and became known as a couture evening and wedding gown designer. I had also done event planning and used this background to seque into wedding consultation and direction.
In 1990 our family moved to the small city of Martinsville, VA. Terry and I felt right at home, as it was a mirror image of our home city in Ohio. I continued staying home with the children and created a few wedding gowns. But, as these things happen, opportunity knocked and I began hand-painting furniture for a local company. This eventually led to painting murals and furniture of my own design as well. I continued directing weddings, sewing gowns, and trying my hand at anything creative, including designing the remodel of my family room and kitchen. I became a middle school art teacher and received my teaching certificate, but life was moving on and I needed to fulfill a dream. continued
